EDITORIAL

This issue of our newsletter appeared much later than usual and this was as a result of managerial changes in the IMCS-Pax Romana Coordination Office. After the Pan African Assembly which was held in October 2006 in Rwanda, which led to the election of the new management team (Maurice and Aaron) and the choice of two chaplains (Fr. Masawe and Fr. Moses).

Maurice from Rwanda joined the IMCS-Africa team based in Nairobi in February 2007. Father Etienne (Outgoing chaplain) and Jules (Outgoing coordinator) are doing their part in transmitting the experience gained in view of continuity of administrative management.

The year 2007 is a transition period, but it’s also full of training activities for students and official visits with national movements in Congo-Brazzaville , Mali , DR Congo, Senegal and Togo . Three training sessions on the Door to Door strategy were accomplished from January to April 2007 at a national level. The Rwandan session was facilitated by Maurice; those of Mali , and DR Congo ( South Kivu province) were facilitated by Jules. We have news from the national movements such as National gathering of NMCS Zimbabwe during the Easter conference on the theme “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…”             Luke 4: 18, 19 which came at the right time during the political tribulations in Zimbabwe . IMCS Sudan has launched their publication (Christ ambassadors) during Easter. Consultation meetings were held with the church notably the Secretariat of the Episcopal conference of Kenya and that with AMECEA on familiarizing new team members with the spirit of collaboration. Maurice, the new team member shared in this issue on his experience after four months in the office and Fr. Etienne shares his life experiences in the youth service as a Pan African chaplain.

2007 is also a year of our International Team renewal by election and approval of the new Chaplain. IMCS Pax Romana family worldwide will gather at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from 24th June to 8th July to celebrate its achievements for youth capacity building but also to reflect on the way forward to meet the challenges of the time.

Wishing you all, an enjoyable reading and just together make way for a peaceful world, by each one of us engaging in his level according to his capacities to put together our knowledge and wisdom in the service of the weak and less privileged in the society.
