EDITORIAL

Dear friends and members of IMCS Pax Romana Africa,

We are very happy that our newsletter reappears again after six months. The delay is due to different factors, including the political crises, and other technical factors beyond our control. Yes, this number of our newsletter appears the time we have to address the youth of Africa . Young people, you have become the “leaders” tool. The Holy Spirit should be our guide in order to help us avoid the evil temptation of our politicians using us as tools and agents of hatred. The newsletter of IMCS Africa calls upon the youth in Africa to work together for the peace of our continent. For this reason our newsletter receives the name “PEACE”.

We wish to use this Newsletter to thank Mr. Jules WAHARE for the services he rendered to the movement during and after his mandate. He and his family left Nairobi in December 2007 to Togo , his native soil after ending his mandate.

The arrival of Mr. Aaron FENU from Ghana on the 9th January 2008 brings to us a new impetus for the implementation of our programme decided during the last pan African assembly held in Kabgayi , Rwanda , October 2006. We wish him and the entire team success during their mandate.

Since August, the Pan African Coordination has organized two important programmes: Apart from the one which was organized in Lubumbashi , DRC, which gathered students within the town, there was another evaluation session on our activities against HIV/AIDS held in Douala , Cameroun . In Kumasi- Ghana , IMCS in conjunction with ICMICA organized an Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue for West African countries.

Different National Movements sent their news to us: IMCS Madagascar had a seminar on leadership for its National Steering Committee. IMCS Rwanda celebrated and welcomed the new branches and members. IMCS Kenya organized a campaign against HIV/AIDS. IMCS Sudan gave us a brief report of their achievements in 2007. The visit of Meron from IMCS Ethiopia to Ghana is also mentioned without forgetting the attendance of our members in the formation programme on Interreligious Dialogue held in Lagos- Nigeria .

The Peace Units Program (PUP) introduced in Kenyan higher institutions has grown much, and it’s now time for evaluation. The success of this program is also mentioned in this newsletter.

Dear friends, we now make again a call for peace: As the name of our movement implies, we are promoters of peace « Let us be the tools of peace in our countries »
