THE
EXPERENCE OF MAURICE NZEYIMANA AFTER FOUR MONTHS AT PAN AFRICAN COODINATION
OFFICE.
After
the Pan African Assembly –PAA- meeting of Kabgayi where I was elected Pan
African coordinator, I went to my post in
Nairobi
from the 13th February 2007. After a long journey of 24hours I
arrived in
Nairobi
. I was welcomed to this big city of our continent by my predecessor, Jules
Wahare, who took me to his house. He ensured the smooth initiation of the
coordination work. He over saw my initiation and smooth continuity of the
coordination work. After two days of resting, I went to the office to start
working. After a week with Jules, I joined Fr. Etienne, the outgoing chaplain
who accommodated me while waiting to find a house of my own. I thank him for his
hospitality during my one-month stay at his place.
Among
the first activities, I was introduced to the secretariat of the Kenya Episcopal
Conference (KEC), under which the office of IMCS is recognized at the level of
Kenya
government, the secretariat of KEC encouraged our office for the service of
young universities students in
Africa
. AMECEA, the regional organization of the church in eastern Africa has its
headquarters in
Nairobi
. Collaboration with this church organization is of grand importance, since we
all share this international character. To strengthen our relations with the
secretariat of the organization, the entire coordinating team of IMCS in
Africa
visited the headquarters and kept in touch with its secretary general on
relations which should exist between the two offices. It is of interest to
remember that Fr. Moses Hamungole, one of our two new chaplains is a member of
this secretariat.
On
01/03/07, the outgoing team comprising of Fr. Etienne and Jules welcomed the new
coordinating team that is namely: Fr. Fratem Masawe, Fr Moses Hamugole and
Maurice. A summary of operational activities on the coordination level of IMCS
Pax Romana-Africa was presented to us. This is after my follow up of the
activities of PUP (Peace and Progress) at the
Egerton
University
, which is one of the programs run by Pan African coordination of IMCS in
Kenyan universities. The students and their teachers come together to ensure
peace measures are taken to ensure peace prevails in the university and the
whole country. I would like to express my gratitude to Stellamaris, the national
coordinator, PUP
Kenya
, who introduced me to this program.
Teamwork
strengthened with prayer has given me a nice experience with the regular masses
organized for the whole team and support in helping evaluate our daily work in
this big city of
Nairobi
where everything is expensive, where we are always on the move and where we
find a great variety of languages and people who are friendly. I have learnt a
lot so far.
To
the members of the outgoing team who are accompanying us through this year 2007,
we say thank you for the great work and do not cease to ensure the good
continuity of the activities for the coordinating office of IMCS Pax Romana
Africa.
We
thank our friends of the national movements for their encouragement and we
promise them of our continued collaboration.
Long
live to IMCS PAX ROMANA in order to continue building a better World for all.
Maurice NIZEYIMANA, PAN AFRICAN COORDINATOR
